Looking back, moving forward…

At the end of 2009, I posted a blog on my old website about reflection on the last year. Now that we are in March, and the romanticized notions of “New Year’s Resolutions” have worn off, why not re-visit what our intentions are for 2010? And not only thatm, but as we reflect on the year 2009, I wonder what you have found to be the highs and lows?

If we can look back with gratitude, and focus more on the highs of the year, it helps us to stay positive – which in turn improves our stress levels and thence our health and immunity.

I would like you to do an experiment with me.

Write down  up to 2 low points of the year (if you don’t mind sharing), then follow with as many high points as you can. Try to think of at least 5 great things about 2009.

Put these in the comments section of the blog, then tell me how you feel. It’s a great opportunity to prepare your mind for the new year.

I’ll go first:

Lows: –

Firstly getting severe right arm pain from a slipped disc in my neck, made worse by osteopathic treatment  (it definitely made it better last time, honestly!), then falling over when clambering out of bed a week before the discectomy and spinal fusion operation – and breaking my left wrist. O.M.G.! Sometimes the Universe has to send a very DEFINITE message to slow down! This was in April and May.

Secondly, finding out that Passive Investments had gone into voluntary liquidation in November. The credit crunch has hit so many businesses hard in the last 2 years, and the best have found ways of moving forward with the times. This was a huge blow to me and my investment plans, but I know that many people the world over have seen their finances become a little – shall we say – interesting over the last year!


SO many that I might take all day!

Feeling the immense benefits in terms of health and energy from the nutritional supplements and skin care products that I use…

A wonderful holiday in Devon with the family in February, back to Yelfords in Chagford – a wonderful, peaceful house in Dartmoor National Park, and Chagford is a great place for networking – we know the butcher, the baker and the greengrocer  on first name terms now.

Managing to make it to the UK USANA Celebration in London in June, despite my broken wrist. I find that I get a bigger sense of purpose and intention from attending these live events, surrounded by like-minded, positive people who are prepared to do what it takes to create health,  wealth and success for them and those they know.

Train the Trainer course in July, tough going with my broken wrist and sore neck, with hours running from 9am to 11pm, but I just took time out when I needed to. The way in which positive energy is created is amazing, we did not feel tired despite being on the go for several days. Wonderful to be surrounded by positive entrepreneurs again, and lead by T Harv Eker (from a distance) and Blair Singer – a truly inspirational man who made me feel that selling is simply an important part of life.

Holiday in Devon in August- September with the family again, I just love the countryside there, I feel so grounded and in touch with spirit amongst the moss, trees and running water.

USANA Convention in August – I flew to Utah, and what an amazing time we had! Nearly 9,000 people in the stadium, an open air street party the first night, and I learnt so much, met so many people. I could write a book on my experiences. Most touching were the stories of people who have created something from nothing with the help of USANA, immigrants unable to speak a word of English creating a life for themselves away from the sweatshops – in whichever country. Also the work of the Children’s Hunger Fund, the work they are doing supporting families and orphans worldwide, the looks on the faces of the children helped, and the statistics on the proportion of donations that go where they should.

Power-Walking the Children’s Hunger Fund sponsored fun run – 5Km in Utah at 6:30 am (to beat the heat). Great sense of achievement, now I knew I was on the road to recovery!

Joining the Gym at East Sussex National Golf Course – feeling the improvements in my wrist as I swam & did the exercises in the sauna and jaccuzi.

First time being able to drive – although it was weeks before I felt able to go near a hill. You need the hand brake with a hill start!

Return to work in September – welcomed with open arms by patients and staff alike. Remembering what I loved about each 10 minute consultation. Reminding myself what it is like to use time really effectively (no choice in general practice, but my computer work was & still is sooo slow!).

Guerilla Business Intensive course in September – October – T Harv Eker & Kieron – what an amazing team, and the training was exceptional. Another few days surrounded by positive Entrepreneurs.

Discovering in November that everything is ok with my Buy to Let property, I have a tenant & a low interest-free  mortgage. Thank you to everyone involved!

Starting Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar course in December. There’s a lot of content here, every minute well spent – but where to find the time? I love the fact that you can listen later, giving me the freedom to choose.

Snow before Christmas, landing on my admin day, leaving me able to focus at home & work on the blood test results and hospital letters from there – remote working is great! Then at the weekend spending time with kids and dog in the snow, with us all finding our inner puppy!

And Christmas, always a wonderful family time! Lovely to catch up with people. Most memorable were seeing my childhood nanny/ my mother’s help, who is in a nursing home now in her 90s; I first knew her when I was 6 weeks old!
